Yulee Homeowner Faces Significant Tornado Damage  

A tornado touched down in one Yulee neighborhood causing major damage to a number of homes. When SERVPRO of Fernandina Beach/Yulee/North Jacksonville arrived, the neighborhood was buzzing with contractors assisting homeowners with myriad of property damages. A tree went down and pierced our client’s roof so the first job was to remove the tree and put a tarp on the roof so we could begin the process of drying the attic and inside contents.

Damage from the tree impacted the garage, a hallway, the master bedroom, bathroom, and laundry room. SERVPRO of Fernandina Beach/Yulee/North Jacksonville removed the damaged ceilings. Where possible we salvaged the ceilings by wet-blowing the soaking, heavy insulation (using a special process our technicians conceived).

As this photo shows, ceiling joists came loose from the screws and were just barely hanging, which presented a safety hazard to the people below who wanted to examine the damage and did not understand the danger. SERVPRO of Fernandina Beach/Yulee/North Jacksonville secured the area and began restoration efforts.

Due to our efforts to save the ceilings, the property owner was able to save a lot of money on repairs. We were also able to replace the dried carpet so floors would have a covering over concrete while repair efforts were underway.
